As Co-Owner of It's Alive Web & Marketing, I spend most of my time on the computer working on digital communications. In my "spare" time I create gifts and all things beautiful. I believe in the power of creativity and artistic expression.

No poodle was harmed in the making of this video. Osea, our handsome rescued mini-poodle lost a lot of weight from a heart problem, which we now have under control with medications. Due to his weight loss he gets cold. I purchased him two sweaters to keep him warm, one while out and one for when he sleeps. This video is a funny fail at my attempt to dress him. Heaven have mercy on my first child.
Deadly cheerful flower arrangement.
One of four flower arrangements I created from a $10 bouquet purchased at Trader Joes.

Ready to give - An Art Volunteer Experience
I’ve just got back from the Art & creativity for Healing Volunteer Orientation and it was wonderful.
The Founder/Director, Laurie Zagon was sweet, informative and inspiring. It was pleasantly surprising to see 20 or so potential volunteers attend and sit through a very polished presentation of what the organization is and what volunteer opportunities are available.
It’s based out of Laguna Niguel and you can find info about them here (www.art4healing.org).
Their mission is to facilitate Art for Healing workshops for children and adults suffering from abuse, illness, grief or stress on-site, and at hospitals and non-profit facilities.
Since I love creative expression and spend my time creating, inspiring and facilitating arts & crafts this opportunity seems right up my alley.
I’ve decided I want to become a member of their Hearts for Healing Women’s Guild and am hoping to start this month, if not in February. Hopefully I will be able to volunteer as one of their Workshop Assistants and participate with the local community.
I’m looking forward to what I can give and what they can teach me. I’m sure this experience will only add to my continued goal of facilitating creativity. I’ll write more posts about my volunteering as I progress with the program.
Below are the two painting exercises I got to create from orientation which included a mini-workshop as a taste of the workshops they provide.

Craft Supplies in Strange Places
I’m always on a lookout for affordable craft/art supplies. I always encourage, recycling, garage sales and the dollar store before shopping at the major retail suppliers.
However, recently Marshall’s has had their hands on an amazing selection of craft and art supplies. They have “name brand” items such as Martha Stewart Crafts.
So the next time your shopping at Marshalls check their stationary section for great crafting bargains.
Oh, and don’t forget to check their baking section. For some reason the employees think all things that sparkle go on cupcakes. =) It’s Glitter Marshalls, not sprinkles! =)

A Southern Getaway
This Thanksgiving I visited my parents in Shelby North Carolina. Shelby is an adorable little town less than an hour away from Charlotte NC. A southern getaway is a perfect stress realiver. Below is a sneak peak into my 2011 Thanksgiving and pictures to inspire your southern vacation adventure.
My first day exploring was spent driving down back roads to Greenville SC. Our destination was the city’s Falls Park. A beautiful park with a great waterfall located in the heart of the city.

My husband and I enjoyed lunch at the Lazy Goat, a cool spot overlooking the water. The food, service and prices were great. I recommend sitting outside to enjoy the water and a bit of Southern people watching.

My parents showed us this eclectic little diner with a small museum inside. We stopped there for a few refreshments and I have to say the place had some of the best people watching ever. If you’re into Southern accents you’ll have happy ears visiting Bantam Chef Chesnee Restaurant…

The last day of our trip my husband and I drove into Charlotte to explore Discovery Place, an interactive science museum for all ages. This place was amazing and extremely affordable! Click Here to See Their Current Prices. If you’re a big kid then you’ll enjoy investigating your skin under a microscope, petting snakes, creating snap-shot animations, laying on nails and much more.

Before heading to Discovery Place, check out Terrace Cafe, where you can enjoy red velvet waffles…YUM!!

We spent the day exploring Laguna Beach. The greatest part was taking advantage of our friend’s sea creature knowledge. It was like taking a school field trip. Interested in warm water fish? Check out his YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/belandres01.

We ate lunch at one of my favorite spots in Newport, True Food Kitchen
